William Castle usually marketed his movies with gimmicks, and for MR. SARDONICUS the gimmick was “the punishment poll.” When the film played in theatrical release, audience members were issued a voting card, and near the movie’s conclusion Castle himself appeared on the screen and asked the audience to vote: show the card thumbs up to show mercy, thumbs down for none. Now, in theory, there were two different endings, and the ending shown depended on the audience vote–but no one ever saw the “show mercy” ending and it seems unlikely that it ever existed at all. And you certainly won’t find it here: Sardonicus is punished every time.

For once Castle should have left well enough alone. The Punishment Poll is the only seriously weak thing in the entire film, which has a considerably better script and over-all better cast than most Castle outings. The story, which shows influences from everything from PHANTOM OF THE OPERA to DRACULA to THE MAN THAT LAUGHED, concerns a grotesquely disfigured man who uses his wife to lure a noted specialist to his castle in the wilds of “Gorslavia”–and who then proceeds to make every one’s life as miserable as possible, and that’s throwing roses at it. Young women are molested, hung from the ceiling, nibbled on by leeches, and threatened with surgery designed to make them look as hideous as Sardonicus himself.

The cast is quite good, with Oskar Homolka a standout as Krull, Sardonicus’ equally depraved servant. The lovely Audrey Dalton is also memorable as Sardonicus’ unwilling wife. But the real star of the film is the make-up, which was quite famous in its day and is still capable of giving you a jolt. And along the way we’re treated to a number of campy Castle florishes that add to the fun. But MR. SARDONICUS is surprisingly cohesive for a Castle movie, and it moves along at a smart pace and has an interestingly atmospheric look. Most Castle films appeal almost exclusively to fans of cult and B-movies, but just about every one will find this one entertaining. Lots of good Gothic fun!

William Castle…producer, writer, director, and sometimes actor, but first and foremost a showman. All right…the man was a hack (in the kindest possible sense), pure and simple, often regarded as a Hitchcock imitator (he even adopted a number of Hitchcockian mannerisms like appearing briefly in his own movies, etc.), and his films maybe have not been of the highest caliber, but he knew how to draw in and entertain audiences by use of sometimes very clever gimmicks, at least in terms of his horror films of the 50s and 60s, and made going to the movies an interactive event, rather than a passive activity, ensuring those who came got their money’s worth. While Mr. Sardonicus (1961) isn’t my favorite Castle film (I’ve always been partial to House on Haunted Hill and The Tingler), it’s still a lot of fun, especially if you’re a fan of schlocky, sleaze-tinged, lurid spectacles like I am…written by Ray Russell (The Premature Burial, X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes) and produced and directed by William Castle (House on Haunted Hill, The Tingler, 13 Ghosts), the film stars Guy Rolfe, whom I last saw in Ivanhoe (1952) as the evil Prince John, Audrey Dalton (The Monster That Challenged the World, Kitten with a Whip), Ronald Lewis (Taste of Fear), and Austrian born actor Oskar Homolka, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the film I Remember Mama (1948)…you’ve come a long way since then, Babaloo…

The story begins in London, the year being 1880…Castle comes on the screen for a brief intro, which leads into our tale proper in that we meet Sir Robert Cargrave (Lewis), a young, prominent English physician who’s done quite well for himself. After receiving a urgent letter from his ex-love (And then there’s) Maude (who’d gone off and unwillingly married another), played by Dalton, Robert hops a boat to the continent, and makes his way to a central European country named Gorslava, which, I think is near Freedonia, but I can’t be sure…anyway, turns out the man Maude married, a nasty fellow named Baron Sardonicus (Rolfe), has a bit of a problem with his mug, one caused by an unpleasant past experience gone into in great detail by use of a lengthy flashback of ghoulish proportions involving a lottery ticket, a dead body, and a money grubbing spouse, which I won’t go into, but suffice to say the good Baron now sports a giant, permanent, toothy grin which he hides by wearing a mask. He’s exhausted nearly all means of treatment, and his last hope lies in Sir Robert, whom he makes an offer the English gentleman can’t refuse. Sir Robert agrees and the local canine population dwindles dramatically as he researches the possibility of using a poisonous tropical plant to treat the disfigured Baron. Will the cure work? Or will Sir Robert find himself and Maude at the very un-tender mercies of the Baron’s sadistically cruel, one-eyed manservant Krull (Homolka)? Don’t fret my frightful fiends, as all will be revealed…even that dark, disgusting secret the Baron keeps locked away in the upstairs room…

In terms of gimmickry, Mr. Sardonicus doesn’t rate as high as some of Castle’s other films (for The Tingler, vibrating devices would be affixed to the bottom of a few of the theater seats and activated during certain thrilling sequences), as it involved patrons being given cards with a glow in the dark hand printed on them. Near the end of the film, Castle would appear onscreen and request the audience to participate in a `punishment poll’, in that if they thought the main character deserved leniency, they would hold the card with the thumb point up, but if they thought the character deserved more punishment, they would hold the card with the thumb pointed down. Castle would then make a production about counting the ballots, and however the audience voted would dictate how the rest of the film would play out (reminiscent of a thumbs up/thumbs down verdict used within the Roman Coliseum), indicating there were two possible endings…which there wasn’t (apparently there was a separate version shown to drive in audiences, where Castle would ask patrons to flash their headlights rather than use the card, but it ended the same way). Castle knew his audience, and knew they would always opt for `more punishment’, but I can’t help but wonder how many viewers bought into the illusion, thinking they were actually influencing the direction of the story (to this day rumors persist there’s an alternate ending, but there isn’t). As far as the story goes, I didn’t think it was particularly scary, but, as others have stated, it does emote a feel of those wonderful horror films produced by Universal in the 30s and 40s. There is a slightly inexpensive (i.e. cheap) sense to the production, but Castle made the most of what he had, and a little imagination goes a long way, aided by spooky, gothic settings thick with atmosphere (leeches, torture chambers, bloodcurdling screams, etc.), surprisingly rich in detail, all tied together with a suitably creepy musical score. The actors do well (Ms Dalton’s character seemed a bit drab), most notably Rolfe in his role as the lead character. His makeup looks a little hokem compared to today’s standards, but I’m sure it was pretty effective some 40 years ago. As nasty a character as he was, there was still underlying sense of pathos that stemmed from the portrayal of his character during the flashback, prior to the disfiguring incident, but, had I been in the audience, by the end of the film, I would have voted thumbs down, along with most everyone else (thousands of years of civilization still have yet to extinguish humanities animalistic desires). Also, Homolka did very well in his over the top performance of the brutish, obedient, scarred lackey (he lost an eye to the Baron for a past indiscretion) Krull, gleefully applying leeches to the house servants, perhaps in an effort to develop his own cure for his cruel and demanding master. Overall this is a macabre little tale, worth checking out if only to see the work of a Castle, a penultimate showman the likes of we’ll never see again.

The widescreen (1.85:1) print on this DVD looks very sharp and clean, and the audio comes through loud and clear. As far as special features, there’s a relatively new featurette titled `Taking the Punishment Poll’ (7:36) and a trailer for this film, along with some of Castle’s other films available on DVD including 13 Ghosts (1960) and Straight-Jacket (1964). The one thing that would have put this release over the top would have been the inclusion of a reproduction of the `thumbs up/thumbs down’ ballot, but oh well…missed opportunities…

If you have not seen this series yet I recommend it to you. If you are an “Action” fan then it may be a bit slow so have a peek on UTube first! then rush out and buy it!
Thats where I saw it first, it gained my immediate interest and soon I had seen all the episodes, and loved the whole lot.

I believe I have this edition, as I live in anaother country than the USA, It was released here as the six disks, in fat packs with the translator/character art booklets and all the extras on disk. Also a special “father” or “Chiyo-Dad” broach. There are 6 disks of episodes and the last disk has several “extras” including a “mini movie”. I LOVE this boxset.

Like many, I have watched the English and Japanese versions, Both are great but I do enjoy the Japanese version more, it is cuter and seems more natural.

So you havent seen it? well simply put it is the story of 7 student girls, 2 female teachers and the leacherous Mr. Kimura! We follow them through 3 years of high school, to their graduation. The humor is light but enjoyable, animation is very good, the characters are drawn as not to appear 15-17 years old, but that is their supposed age. There are times their characters turn to almost exagerated stick figures as necesitated by the “moment”.

The cast is: (no particular order)

Chiyo-Chan, the 10 year old prodigy, Cuteness is her fortay!,

Kagura, The not to studious but very sporty type, alway wants to compete with Sakaki

Koyomi, (Yomi) studious, smart and tends to worry about her weight.

Sakaki, Tall, clever, athletic and loves cats.

Kaorin, regular student infatuated with Sakaki.

Osaka, The space cadet! renown for her off beat non relevent statements, is good at puzzles and is a horror/ghost story fan.

Tomo, the exuberant, competiative dunce, does everything but her homework,

Miss Yukari, The home room teacher, very competative, and has to be first!

Miss Minamo the PE Teacher, the more sensible of the 2 female tachers, and Miss Yukaris friend and rival.

Mr. Kimura, the Math teacher and has self confesed “loves school girls” and is a bit of a pervert.

Quote an Osaka-ism: “You believe in ghosts when you are alone, and you smell a fart that is not yours!!”

Well this is a good view, light, entertaining and humourous and in the end a bit sad when the girls all graduate, why sad? well thats the end of the series, and you want it to keep going!! wheres episode 27?? AAAHHHHH!!

The set is now reasonably priced if you find the right retailer, the set is in large boxes, and so takes a bit of space on the shelf, but heck! it deserves heaps of real estate in my book! Has all the features of the single episode boxes, with a few extras to boot! Great value and a great Anime!

Episodic? Sort of. Similar to Lucky Star, the Azumanga Daioh anime is compiled from 4-panel gag manga comics of the same name; either you get the joke, or you don’t. The manga is wonderful, to see it in anime is exceptional. Azumanga Daioh has also been compared to, strangely enough, the U.S. sitcom “Seinfeld”, because of the episodic feel… supposedly a non-story arc affair. But realistically, the character development and day-to-day life (in this case, three years of Japanese high school) IS the story arc. The repetition of comic relief is quite intentional, this stems from the characters personalities… which makes you grow closer and founder to them. Also, like Lucky Star (and Seinfeld), what makes this series extra special is the reviewable opportunities… you don’t feel weighed down by a series that is story-arc driven, this is all about the characters. No matter how many times I hear Elaine bust out “Get OUT!” on Seinfeld, it does not get old; either does this anime.

I would highly recommend viewing the anime with Japanese DUB and English subtitles… mainly because of Osaka’s character. The character is from Osaka, which regionally, would be considered “down south” for us in the States. And like the English translated manga, the character is obnoxiously portrayed as being from Boston, which is a far cry… the joke in the manga, is that even though the nicknamed transfer student Osaka is from Osaka, she’s expected to be cutting-edge and city-slick cool by the other students when they first meet her… but in actuality, she’s quite spacey and slow on the uptake which does NOT come across in either the English translated manga or the English dubbed anime. You’ll get and understand the true identity and hilariousness of Osaka by listening to the Japanese DUB with English subtitles… the original dialogue is always portrayed/delivered correctly… dub is often… lost in translation as they say.

Another treat, on a personal level, is that the characters are all Japanese girls, with dark hair and dark eyes… none of the westernized and often whitewashed look or feel of other anime character design… with bright hair and eyes of every color of the rainbow… which is still quite enjoyable, but a breath of fresh air for this anime. If you enjoy this series, I would also highly recommend Lucky Star; although much more in your face fun, it’s also derived from the same 4-panel gag-style of manga and isn’t story-arc necessary.

20! 460 minutes long, in total; 114-115 mins long for each DVD.

2. How many episodes are there, per DVD?
They count each half-episode as an entire episode. But, if you’re counting the whole half hour (or 22-minutes, more-like)… each of them have 5 episodes. Disk one has 5 eps, Disk two has 5 eps, etc…

3. Are there any extras?

Nope, lol. ^^; (But maybe if we ask nicely, Nick will put them in future volumes, or include a whole bunch of them on a separate DVD.)

4. Are the episodes in production order?

No, I believe they are in the order that they aired (in the U.S.)… See below for the order…

5. What episodes are included?

DISK 1:

Downtown as Fruits, Eugene’s Bike, The Little Pink Book, Field Trip, Arnold’s Hat, Stoop Kid, Helga’s Makeover, The Old Building, 6th Grade Girls, The Baseball.

DISK 2: Heat, Snow, Operation Ruthless, The Vacant Lot, The List, Haunted Train, Mugged, Roughin’ It, Door #16, Arnold as Cupid.

DISK 3: Arnold’s Christmas, Beachwarmer, Cool Jerk, Das Subway, Wheezin’ Ed, Tutoring Torvald, Gerald Comes Over, Spelling Bee, Pigeon Man.

DISK 4: Olga Comes Home, Sally’s Comet, Abner Come Home, The Sewer King, False Alarm, World Records, Magic Show, 24 hours to live, Arnold’s Valentine.

6. What did it play on?

It plays on my Playstation 2 (but it seems to skip during the lightning parts/scenes– if that’s your only DVD player, you might not want to get it, unless you just don’t mind the skippage/slippage XD).

It works perfectly fine in my other DVD players tho: An HP Pavilion dv9700 Laptop/Notebook PC (which is a DVD+RW and runs on Windows Vista), my desktop downstairs (which is a Dell 9100, CD/DVD-R and runs on Windows XP)… and our normal DVD player, which is a Toshiba DVD Video play/Video Cassete Recorder SD-V280 ^__^;; That’s all I had to test it on, lol, but it worked on ALL of them!!! So, success! :DDD

OH! The only thing that it didn’t work on is the bottom DVD+-RW drive on my desktop PC… (I have two DVD drives on the desktop– the one on the top works) but I think the bottom one is just for burning, not for *playing* DVDs. :P (This is to the best of my knowledge.)

—-

Additional comments: WOW, what a crystal-clear picture!! On the computer, it let me take screen shots easily. To my eye, it looks better on T.V. than on the monitor, but maybe it’s just my monitor…? Sound quality is good. It doesn’t mention anything on the DVD if it’s Dolby Surround Sound or anything, but I don’t know if it needs to. No captioning available. It shows the opening theme/sequence at the beginning of the DVD (like, before “Downtown as Fruits” on Disk 1, for example, and once after all of the episodes are finished (like, after “The Baseball” on Disk 1).

Let me just say that “Hey Arnold!” in general deserves a 5/5 (in fact, it deserves an 11,000,000/5, but that’s probably impossible, lol)

If you are worried just about the episode quality, you shouldn’t be, as this definitely has great quality, Dolby Surround Sound or not (I don’t know how to test that without actually having speakers that work for it). Just don’t expect any extras, lol.

To Nickelodeon: If you’re listening/looking at this, please give the fans some DVD Extras in the upcoming disks, or all of them on one, big disk.

To the Current Fans: If you guys REALLY want The Jungle Movie, I urge you to buy the HELL out of these DVDs (and/or at iTunes, if you prefer). Never Say Never!!! Just as long as we stay as optimistic as our favorite Football-Shaped Head :DD lols

All in all, I definitely believe it is worth the money, and I’d buy it again if I had the chance. Instead, I’ll just wait for my Pre-order of Season 2 to come. :)) :D

To the Un-awakened, “Old Fans”: If you haven’t watched “Hey Arnold!” in a very long time (or not at all…), this’d be a good set to get addicted to, LOL. Hey Arnold! has some of the best humor, entertainment and wit that I’ve ever seen in ages. Some kinds of humor in other shows can get old, but Hey Arnold! is as entertaining watching it the 100th time or just the 1st time. I remember seeing this cartoon when I was younger (I was 9 when it first came out), but I didn’t appreciate the humor and the writing enough until last year. I am 23 years old now! lol! If you haven’t seen it recently, you don’t know what you’re missing!! :D

Just a warning… you might get as obsessed about HA! as Helga is to Arnold, himself! LOL!!!

Yes, it’s that good! T_T!!! <3<3<3 XDD

Thank you so much, Nickelodeon! I look forward to the future volumes. Please consider finishing “The Jungle Movie” (and “The Pataki’s”? haha ), and accepting Craig Bartlett as a part of your team again. We would love to see you guys working together again. It’s not just me.

Let me know if you guys have any extra questions.

Thanks for reading. ^_~

The name says it all on this one. This is probably the best non-TV-series Slayers release to come out so far. It’s at least on par with the best of them: “Slayers the Motion Picture”, “Book of Spells”, and “Slayers Great” and a great introduction to those who haven’t yet experienced the insanity and fun of this incredible anime series. This DVD compiles three separate episodes of Lina and Naga adventures, including the first meeting of the two in the first story, “Labyrinth”. This is the strongest of the three and is worth the price of the whole DVD by itself. This one pits Lina and Naga first against each other, and then against a vampire. Lina’s rant about the pretentious-sounding speech of vampires is an absolute riot. Second, we have “A Frightening Future” in which Lina is hired as a bodyguard for a spoiled (and well-endowed) rich girl whose laugh is just a little bit too much like Naga’s for Lina to stand. Naga shows up (of course) to drive Lina even further to the brink of insanity and some brilliant S&M humor ensues. Lastly, there is the weakest and most over-the-top of the three stories, “Lina-Chan’s Lovely Makeover Operation” which pits Lina and an extremely over-zealous formal wear fanatic against Naga and a snotty punk girl who designs unorthodox clothing. This one had a lot of potential, but fails to live up to it. Still, this is one Slayers DVD you must have. The only thing missing is a Dragon-Slave. Some may argue that a Slayers episode without a Dragon-Slave is like a day without sunshine, but I think we’ve all seen our fair share by now, haven’t we? Anyhow, we also get a couple of tasty extras in this edition in the form of two interviews: one with the adorable Cynthia Martinez (who gives her best performance ever as Lina Inverse on this DVD), and another with Kelly Manison, Naga’s english voice. All in all, a great collection for both the Slayers newcomer and the veteran otaku.

After three feature-length movies, we get back to short, half-hour O.A.V. episodes.

Finally, at long last, we get to see how Lina Inverse and Nahga The White Serpant first met. (In SLAYERS: THE MOTION PICTURE, where Nahga made her first appearence, Lina and Nahga already knew each other from sometime back, and we were never told how they first came to meet.) We begin in the present, when Nahga destroys the inn Lina’s staying at, and destroys the meal she was about to eat as well. This triggers a flashback to when Lina first met Nahga, who was determined to get a reputation as the world most powerful sorceress by defeating Lina. Later the two of them are hired by some village people to kill a vampire. (Yes, this is the only time in all of the Slayers anime where a vampire makes an appearence.)

Next, Lina is hired by a rich man to escort his teenage daughter Serena (spoken for by veteran actor Tiffany Grant) to their vacation villa. The problem is that Serena has a personality and laugh quite simular to Nahga, she splurges like crazy (she even refuses to wear the same set of clothing more than once and buys lots of suveners which she then expects Lina to carry,) and she slows them down greatly. Finally Lina gets sick of it so she actually hires some guys to kidnap Serena. But then Serena gets kidnapped by some different bandits, so Lina must save her with the help of Nahga.

Finally we get to see Lina’s last adventure with Nahga ever. Lina comes to town and finds Nahga has a new cult of teenage girl followers (led by preppy valley girl-type Marti) who think her taste in clothing is really cool, and Lina is horrified by the idea of a future world where everyone dresses and acts like Nahga, so she joins up with a seemstress sorceress and her followers who want everyone to stick to formal attire to stop Nahga and Marti and the others.

The shows are funny, the animation is…well, excellent, and the voice actors are superb-particularly Kelly Manison, (who was born to play Nahga,) Cynthia Martinez, who had really grown into the role of Lina Inverse by the time she returned to play her in SLAYERS RETURN, and Tiffany Grant as Serena. Finally, there are the interviews mentioned in the other reviews with Miss Martinez and Miss Manison. They are almost as much fun to watch as the episodes themselves, since it’s neat to see what the voice actors look like and see them speak as themselves and hear what they think of the shows and the characters. A great DVD to own.

For five wonderful seasons, “Hart to Hart” was about the most fun you could have in an hour without getting into any trouble. Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers were simply perfect as the rich couple with nothing to do but solve murders. They were Jonathan and Jennifer Hart, living the fun life we all wished we had. The chemistry between Stefanie Powers and Robert Wagner was natural and you could always tell, especially with Wagner, that they were having a ball.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Hart to Hart - The Complete Second Season! Click Here

Sidney Sheldon created the characters but it was really a stroke of genius to cast Wagner and Powers. Wagner took his cool Alexander Munday persona from “It Takes a Thief” and just made him richer and happier, with a lovely companion he got to keep. Stefanie Powers always had a certain something but had never really found the right part, until Hart to Hart. Jennifer Hart came so naturally that you couldn’t help thinking she wasn’t really acting at all. Come to think of it, the same could be said of Robert Wagner’s seemingly effortless turn as Jonathan Hart.

This was heaven for light mystery fans. There was always plenty of fun banter between Jonathan and “Mrs. H” and enough humorous situations mixed in with the latest week’s adventure to keep everyone tickled pink. Not to be undervalued as the reason the show was such a big hit, was Lionel Stander’s role as their butler, Max. Max was much more like family than hired help, and in the show’s opening every week, you knew right away Max was an important part of the proceedings. After introducing the self-made millionaire, Jonathan, and his other boss, Mrs. H, Max always stated that he had trouble taking care of them, because their hobby was murder!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Hart to Hart - The Complete Second Season! Click Here

Not to be forgotten, of course, was their lovable dog, Freeway, who sometimes forgot who was the owner and who was the pet. The stories were frivilous fun, as this wasn’t real danger, just TV danger, and we always new our favorite husband and wife would solve the mystery and uncork some champagne at the end.

Fans of the show were delighted when the first season of this fun show finally got a DVD release and are once again made happy by the release of season two. A lot happened in the second season as the show just kept getting better. Jonathan had amnesia after an accident and forgot a murder in one episode. In another, Jennifer was kidnapped. Max’s ex-wife showed up and caused tons of trouble. And Jennifer was stalked by a mummy when a not so ancient body was found in an Egyptian sarcophagus! “Hart to Hart” was delightful escapist fare. Mark Snow’s “Hart to Hart” theme at the opening of the show was light and breezy, and fans looked forward to hearing it every week. Snow would finally become famous for his moody theme for “The X-Files.”

The episodes for season two are as follows: Murder, Murder On The Wall, What Murder?, This Lady is Murder, Murder is Man’s Best Friend, ‘Tis the Season To Be Murdered, Murder Wrap, Murder In Paradise, Ex-Wives Can Be Murder, Murder is a Drag, Hart-Shaped Murder, Slow Boat to Murder, Murder in the Saddle, Homemade Murder, Solid Gold Murder, Getting Aweigh with Murder, The Murder of Jonathan Hart, The Latest In High Fashion Murder, Operation Murder, Murder Takes A Bow, Blue Chip Murder

The domestic and mystery adventures of the self-made man, Jonathan, and his ex-journalist wife, Jennifer, made for a charming and breezy hour of pleasure. The adventures of the spohisticated couple, who it turned out were just like us, only rich, was a great way to unwind at the end of a long day, and still is. Every TV mystery fan will want to pick this one up. So pop the cork from the champagne in the limo, call ahead to make sure the private jet is waiting, and jot off to TV land, where rich and attractive couples delight us by solving murders while living the life of leisure for a second season. Great fun!

I was just a kid when this show was on… and I loved every episode of it. Back then, it looked sleek, chic, exciting, everything you could ask for from a tv show…

just like Charlie’s Angels… or Vega$… I remember them all…

Almost 30 years later, it looks so dated… so different from today’s fast paced, violent, end-twisting, loud, in-your-face TV.

STILL we love it. The stories are so simple… and Wagner and Powers had so much charm… so much style.

Let me add that today I guess I still secretly dream about having a 1978 Mercedes-Benz yellow wagon with that big telephone (laughs). It used to be so super cool!!!

Wathing those episodes made me feel again like a 6 year-old kid just being introduced to late 70’s television - the jokes, the kitchens, the hairdos, the telephones, VCRs, big cars, disco…

Oh, and I loved Mark Snow’s theme. I recognized it instantly…

And Max’s introduction to Mr. and Mrs. H… whose hobby is murder!!!

Do you want to know what were the dreams of the middle class’ during the late 70’s? Watch Hart to Hart. Everything was great. Everything was ideal!

What a great show!

Thanks for the memory.

PS… someday, someone will write a History of american society through the 20th century’s TV shows’ point of view. I’m sure Hart to Hart, Charlie’s Angels, Moonlighting, Magnum PI (and many many others)will all have a lot to say.

A classic!!!!!

carpet cleaning 1

Enero 6th, 2010 by leonard3546302

Carpets are the house owner’s prodigy, and to keep them cleaned is the necessity. There are two methods of carpet cleaning -conventional and new technological methods Chemical manufacturers of carpet cleaning set the five key cleaning methods after twenty years of their research, especially dry-cleaning and Green based chemicals.

The commercial processes of carpet cleaning include steam cleaning i.e. Hot Water extraction involving the use of soap based solutionsSecond process is dry cleaning which uses very low moisture and depends on the dry compounds supplemented by the application of cleansing solutions. This process is often very fast and labor intensive in comparison to wet extraction systems. The third process is Dry compound involving the utilization of the biodegradable powder and cleaning compound These compounds are spread all over the carpet and then swept or scrubbed over it.

For the small areas, a small household hand brush can be used to wipe out the dirt and then it is vacuumed keeping carpet well cleaned and dry. The fourth process is Bonnet method involving club soda and cleaning product; both are mixed with each other and scattered over the surface and small machine known as round buffer or bonnet is moved over the mixture into rotating motion. This process involves more time in drying and is not advised for deep cleaning.
People also make use of shampoos for cleaning of carpets.

This system was very popular till 1970 but it soon lost ground when Encapsulation system of carpet cleaning appeared. The process of Encapsulation is new technology for carpet cleaning which involves forming crystals of soil particles into dry residues. It’s deep cleaning compound crystals soaks the dirt before removing it from the carpet. For this procedure, rotary machines, bush applicator or compression sprayer are utilized for application of solution and then vacuum cleaner is used to clear dry residue. This system enhances the beauty of the carpet better.

There are number of home made procedures for Carpet Cleaning too like vacuuming, stain removing, making use of brushes, brooms etc to give your carpets a neat, clean and long life.

This documentary was originally created and broadcast by the BBC and then NOVA purchased it for U.S. Public Television. However, NOVA slit about 14 minutes of footage to include plugs for other NOVA programs. I am hoping this DVD release will establish that time encourage.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Absolute Zero - NOVA! Click HereThis program traces the scientific evolution of the search for absolute zero, from the 17th century through today. It is extremely well done. Like many such programs, it takes high opinion science (in this case physics) and brings it to the people. There are reenactments, interviews with experts in the field, and historical footage. The rivalries between past scientists, and the repercussions of such, are frankly examined. The creators did a qualified job making the topic approachable without condescending to a non-scientist audience. For the first time, I was able to win such concepts as the Bose-Einstein Condensate, absolute zero and how lasers can “chilly” atoms. I work at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where Eric Cornell did his Nobel Prize-winning work (at Jilla) . He is featured in the documentary and easily expresses in layman’s terms the ideas and methods his team ragged. There is some humor throughout the fragment (including how he forgot to bow to the king while accepting his Nobel Prize!) to lighten the subject matter. Unbiased recently NIST hosted a lecture with Russell Donnelly, the physicist who helped spearhead this documentary. He worked in frosty temperature physics, and was asked for input to the book “Absolute Zero and the Conquest of Cool.” When he looked through the book he was dismayed to sight no graphs, or photos or any “science.” But once he started reading, he was amazed at how the author told the record of the science through the lives of the scientistis. He realized it would produce a ample documentary that could near out to the public - whose succor helps sustain funding for such endeavors. He also spoke about the extensive process of requesting a grant from NSF, working with the BBC and then NOVA to set this together. He showed footage from the documetary itself and I was amazed at the quality. Unfortunately, when NOVA broadcast the note in January it went up against the Fresh Hampshire significant and then the American Idol premier. Yet, it tranquil managed to design millions of viewers. I am cheerful they are releasing it on DVD. I would adore to rewatch it, and have the ability to rewind sure points that I may have missed.

Overall, I highly recommend this program to everyone. It would be a mountainous tool for high school science teachers, for fans of Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos,” and of The National Geographic Channel and other such venues.

Having watched this program on TV with fascination, I could not wait long enough to rep the DVD. When it arrived, watching it confirmed my idea that this is one of the most stimulating programs ever. Reliable to contemplate again, and again, and with a gap, even again!

HEROIN BUSTERS, or translated literally from the Italian, “The
Drug Avenue” (la Via della Droga), is a intriguing,
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Heroin Busters! Click Hereaction-packed movie, pulling all the stops for thrills and
action, not excluding plenty of gun-shooting, in a hurry between
the criminal element and law enforcement. There’s motorcycle,
airplane and car chases around Italy on land, foot and air.

The action is dubbed in English, in an extremely fluent,

understandable manner.

The success of this movie, is that it is outstanding in its

quality considering the “technology” that was at the director’s

disposal at the time. Obviously, the Hollywood studios, with

100’s of millions of USD greater budgets, and with technology 20

years newer than at the time the film was made, acquire products

these days that are measurably different. But are they really

that considerable better? Some things never change, such as the human

species, emotion, and the cultural, economic and social aspects

of a country, whether it by Italy, USA, etc.

Having been filmed in Europe, in 1977, anyone with memories of

hat era, will consider as occasionally comic the immediately

recognizable FIAT vehicle models of the time, and others (such

as Citroen 2 Horse Power, FIAT, little compact Fords, etc.), the

presentation of outdoor and indoor cafes, pinball machines,

cobble stone roads, and overall landscape scenes from the

Italian countryside, that are almost identical to those found in

Spain, and Portugal.

The soundtrack is extremely well chosen, as well, with a few

repetitive riffs, reminiscent of the 70’s heavy metal scene,

such as Yngwie Malmsteen’s style or Unlit Sabbath, or Jean Luc

Ponty’s more fusion jazz elements.

The opener is somewhat bewitching to perhaps those residing

outside the major agglomerations, by depicting the red light

district major metropolises around the world, such as those of

Tokyo, Amsterdam, Thailand or Hong Kong, Recent York, London, and

from there, progresses to expose a definite marginal element of

society. These are outside of the mainstream, keen and

trafficking at times heroin, visibly. The marketing aspect is

also touched upon, by a character admitting that free drugs were

supplied to school kids to score them zigzag from an early age

into the substances, not unlike major American and multinational

corporations give away free droll books, DVD’s, breakfast cereal

with other propaganda, to train in their minds a effect loyalty

that will pay off bigtime when the kids become breadwinners and

adults.

Considering the outstanding results the director obtained with

the budget and technology available in 1977, the cast can be

proud of the results, as it’s wintry enough for the DVD to be

pulled out a few times again, considering the extremely sharp

digital filming, stimulating narrative. As a bonus, there’s a

director commentary in the extras.

Heroin Busters is one of a few fresh Enzo Castellari action flicks place out by Blue Underground…and it’s not so hot. It’s not awful exactly, it’s impartial kinda plain. I watched it all the intention through, and it has it’s moments, but for the mostpart it’s fair kinda flat. Italian action star/prettyboy Fabio Testi is an undercover cop in the middle of a sting in the international heroin underworld. The immortal David Hemmings is his partner, and the only cop who knows that Testi’s undercover. The whole film is fine grand a step by step drug dealing sting with no staunch excitement or drama. Like I said, it’s not dreadful, but you start to wonder when something cool’s gonna happen. Things do capture up a bit in the last act when Testi’s cover’s blown and he’s on the urge from the dealers who want revenge, but by that time it’s too shrimp too leisurely. The film ends with probably the most dreary plane slither ever set aside on film. Testi’s fun to leer as usual. Hemmings is edifying, but ultimately his role is kinda…not pointless exactly, but he unprejudiced doesn’t really have worthy to do. Castellari has definitely made better. Street Law is a righteous example.

This woefully underappreciated titillating film was created by the team slow the fantastic Watership Down. The narrative concerns a pair of dogs, Rowf and Snitter, who sprint from an animal-testing lab in the wilds of England and their attempts to survive in a icy and hostile world. Rowf and Snitter traverse the wilds and encounter both a fox named The Tod who trains them in the ways of being wild and humans who are either disturbed of them or try to hunt them. The film is excellently tantalizing and touches on themes of friendship, bravery, and animal rights. The ending is very tantalizing and always makes me shed a glide or two.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Plague Dogs! Click HereMany talented people lent their skills to this movie. Martin Rosen, also the creator of Watership Down, led a team which took almost two years to painstakingly craft this masterpiece. Among the actors who gave vocal performances for The Plague Dogs are John Distress, Nigel Hawthorne, and Patrick Stewart as an army major. I was even surprised to peer Brad Bird’s (creator of The Iron Giant and The Incredibles) name in the credits as an animator!

Unfortunately, while the film itself is colossal, this DVD leaves a runt bit to be desired. The movie is presented in its North American edited length of 85 minutes. There is apparently a longer 99-minute slash available on DVD from Australia, but only in PAL video format. The film itself looks in sparkling grand condition for being almost 25 years feeble. Other than Scene Selection and Interactive Menus (as if those even count), the DVD is devoid of any special features. Another feature lacking on the DVD that I do miss from my venerable VHS copy is closed captions or subtitles. I have a diminutive peril making out some of the difficult British Isles accents, especially from The Tod and the sheepherding dogs.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Plague Dogs! Click HereI highly recommend that fans of adult, drama-oriented animation (and Watership Down fans in particular) check this one out. Despite its barebones DVD presentation, it’s a ample, distinguished film that deserves to be seen. I give the film 5 stars but subtract 1 star for the lackluster DVD presentation.

I don’t really have a lot to add about the film itself that the other reviewers haven’t already said; this is a sad, distressing, relentlessly grim and harrowing film about two dogs on the speed from an animal research laboratory. It has a somewhat insensible stagger at times, and considerable of the animation is uncouth by today’s standards, but it has tons of character. It’s not exactly a splendid experience but it has expansive power and a worthwhile message. Fair to do it determined (if it isn’t already), this is used material only marvelous for older teens and adults.

I actually honest wanted to address a couple of points in a previous review (possible spoilers coming) . The unusual film, released in the UK in 1982, was 1 hour 42 minutes - this is the plump, unedited version which can ONLY be found on the Australian DVD release (the quality isn’t sizable, but at least you’re getting to spy the whole film) . The incompatibility in running time (99 mins on DVD as against 102 mins in theaters) is simply down to the fact that films hasten slightly faster on VHS and DVD than they do on the tall screen; ALL films are approximately 3 - 4% shorter when transfered to home entertainment formats.

When it came time to release the film in the USA, director Martin Rosen had gigantic inconvenience finding a distributor willing to choose it on. That shouldn’t arrive as too mighty of a surprise; the film is far too disturbing for kids or families, and adults are likely to dismiss an interesting feature with talking animals as kids’ stuff - so who exactly would pay to explore this movie? In an exertion to placate the distributors, Rosen was forced to carve 17 minutes from the film’s running time. Some of the cuts were simply made to urge up the roam, and others were made to select some of the more bad scenes (most notably the see of a human corpse which the starving, desperate dogs have partially eaten) . Needless to say, these cuts did minute to lighten the film’s grim tone, and it only ever received a brief and extremely miniature speed at a few US theaters. Unfortunately, it is this shorter version that has been ancient for most of the current DVD releases; as I mentioned before, only the Australian edition has both versions included.

There were some changes to the region in the transfer from unique to cloak. The somewhat forced but nevertheless welcome satisfied ending in the book was removed, to execute the film a more great anti-vivisection statement. Also the fate of the fox, or The Tod as he is known, was changed; in the book he falls victim to a hunt, whereas in the film he sacrifices himself to a pack of army hounds as a distraction, allowing the two titular dogs to dash (temporarily) on a announce. This was NOT changed due to any pressure from pro-hunting groups; neither Richard Admas or his admirers would have tolerated such a disappear. I imagine it was changed to allow the Tod’s death to play a more considerable piece in driving the residence forward, and to point to us the wily fox was a superior fellow in the raze.
